This image is done by a 3D scanner and we have created a gray scale image of the contrast of the laser signal. Here each pixel is located in 3D and as a gray scale where the illumination is the laser source of the distance meter in the laser radar system.

This shows that it is easy to have good images where all pixels have a 3D defined position. This image can be scanned at a speed of 50 000 pixels per second.

Often these volume related pixels are called voxels ( volume piels ).

Edge enhaced mode from a laser radar image over an office room. Here the computer has enhaced the edges and contrast of the 3D image.

This image is a color photo synchronized with the 3D grind of the scene. Each pixel here have its 3D coordinate as well as the RGB color code. The voxel information can be described as x , y , and z + RGB for all voxels in the room. This way opens fantastic new ways for 3D virtual reality , film production, games. miliraty and safety related applications etc..

3D laser radar system used to take these images. The laser distance meter is the square box. The gimbal have 2 axis and can scan x and y axis with very high precision.

This system can generate 1000 3D points per second in a squale cibe of 30x15x30 meter with about 1 cm in 3 D position accuracy.

The higp speed version can make 50 000 coordinates per sec each with about 2 -3 cm in accuracy.

The weight if this assembly is about 4-5 Kg . The system cane have active gyro stabilization and heading as an option. Then the laser keeps pointing in a given direction if the mount moves or twists. This is good for airborne and car related applications.

This system have no camera but we can supply a calibrated camera making it possible to have 3 D images.

Prices of this system is not as high as many people believe.
